![]() ![]() I was genuinely asking what the audible difference is between TrueHD Atmos and DD+ Atmos. ![]() I've long stopped looking for little flaws and just enjoy the content. Lossless is good for storage, but IMO lossy's practicality and efficiency especially over the internet vastly makes up for the tiny difference in quality one might or might not experience. AFAIK they don't affect dynamic range, or "muddle" the sound, claims I often hear from lossless purists. ![]() It doesn't just sound "worse", one has to know what kind of artifacts to look for. Artifacts due to lossy compression are mostly known how they sound. But I don't know that there's a DD+ Atmos encoder available to the public, and even if there was it would be expensive.īut my larger point is that the difference is not obvious. Both, but it's more difficult to find actual data on Dolby audio, because ideally double blind tests would include the same source, meaning encoding both DD+ and TrueHD audio from the same known source, or encoding DD+ from a TrueHD source, not just comparing bluray vs. ![]()
